Riding for children with critical illnesses

10.7.2023

On our own behalf: our medical colleague Dr. Brit Häcker is taking part in Europe's largest charity cycling project for Team Rynkeby Germany. Every year, over 2500 cyclists from nine different countries ride to Paris to raise money for seriously ill children. Last year, a total of over 10.4 million euros was raised. In Germany, the donations went to the German Children's Cancer Aid.

Dr. Brit Häcker from the German Central Committee against Tuberculosis is also taking part in this year's ride from 8 to 15 July as a team member of "Team Rynkeby Berlin". "We will start at the Nordic Embassy in Berlin and then ride across Germany, Belgium and France to the Eiffel Tower. With over 1100 kilometers, we want to help the children and are super motivated to leave every single kilometer behind us." This can be supported by the "Cash for kilometers " fundraising campaign https://www.kinderkrebsstiftung.de/team-rynkeby/.

Team Rynkeby is a charity cycling team originally from Denmark. In 2001, an employee of Rynkeby Foods was diagnosed with COPD and the idea of a cycle tour to Paris was born to do something for his health. The first tour started in 2002 with eleven participants and quickly became a charitable campaign to support seriously ill children. Daily impressions of the current tour can be found on the official Instagram account of Team Rynkeby Berlin (@teamrynkebyberlin).
