Visit from Japan

7.12.2023

The transnational exchange of expertise in the field of tuberculosis is very important in order to slow down the global spread and improve treatment options.

That's why we had a high-ranking delegation from Japan visit us here at the German Central Committee against Tuberculosis (DZK). The four Japanese colleagues took a look at the work processes and opportunities here with us. Of course, they also spoke to our doctors and members of the DZK and discussed how tuberculosis is dealt with in Germany.

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that affects over 10 million people worldwide every year. Here in Germany, the spread is relatively low and our treatment methods are pretty good, so that the majority of people survive the disease well.

Many thanks to Prof. Bauer, Dr. Schönfeld, Dr. Krieger, Dr. Häcker, Dr. Otto-Knapp and Ms. Trost for organizing the day and for all the insights into everyday working life.
