Update of the S2k guideline on tuberculosis in adults: New in the Leila app

25.5.2022

In Germany, tuberculosis is a rare disease that is generally easy to treat. It is one of the most common infectious diseases worldwide with around 10 million new cases per year. Even with a low incidence in Germany, tuberculosis remains an important differential diagnosis, particularly due to international developments and migration movements. In Germany, due to the low prevalence of the disease and the associated decline in clinical experience, there is a need for information on all aspects of tuberculosis and its control. This guideline covers microbiological diagnosis, the basic principles of standard therapy, the treatment of various organ manifestations, the management of typical adverse drug reactions, the special features of the diagnosis and treatment of resistant tuberculosis, and the treatment of TB-HIV co-infection. It also deals with aspects of care and legal regulations as well as the diagnosis and preventive treatment of latent tuberculous infection. It explains when treatment by specialized centers is required.

The update of the S2k guideline "Tuberculosis in adults" is intended to serve as a guideline for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis for all those involved in tuberculosis care and to help them meet today's challenges in dealing with tuberculosis in Germany.

You can access the guideline in the LeiLa APP free of charge here >>>

The guideline will also be published shortly in the journal "Pneumologie" and will be available via the AWMF. We will keep you up to date on the dates via our website and newsletter.
