How can I tell if I have tuberculosis? What are the typical symptoms?
31/1/2025
People who have pulmonary tuberculosis often have a cough and a slight fever. However, these symptoms are not specific and also occur, for example, with colds or other illnesses. However, if the symptoms persist for several weeks or if other symptoms such as heavy sweating, unintentional weight loss or tiredness occur, tuberculosis must also be considered. This is particularly the case if there has been previous contact with a person with tuberculosis. An X-ray of the lungs is required for clarification and further examinations may be arranged. In some cases, tuberculosis can also affect organs other than the lungs. Other examination methods are then necessary to diagnose or rule out tuberculosis.
